What a Biodanza class is like

About two hours, in a group, with music and no steps to memorise. Each exercise is explained and shown before it starts.

From start to finish

  1. Sharing circleSitting in a circle, anyone who wishes says how they are or how they lived the previous class. It is short and optional.
  2. OpeningStanding and holding hands, the group forms a circle and starts moving together.
  3. ActivationRhythmic music, walks and dances in groups and pairs awaken energy and joy.
  4. Encounter and calmThe pace slows down. Slower exercises of sensitivity and contact follow, always by invitation.
  5. ReturnWe gradually wake the body up again and finish together in a circle.

A class has between 10 and 15 exercises, each with its own music. There is little talking: the essence is lived through dance.

Why every week

Biodanza is practised in a regular group, once a week. The gap gives time to integrate what was lived, and continuity builds trust among the people in the group.

What people often feel

  • More energy and a better mood after class.
  • Less tension and stress, and calmer sleep.
  • More ease in expressing what they feel.
  • Closer relationships and a sense of belonging to a group.
  • More enjoyment of their own body and of movement.

These are experiences reported by people who practise. Biodanza does not replace medical or psychological care. If you have any physical or health limitation, talk to us before your first class.
